We wanted to give Blu-news.com readers a first look at the upcoming Gangs of New York: Remastered Blu-ray release. The differences between the old Blu-ray release and this new one are night and day, everything has been drastically improved. Color issues have been fixed, green bar issues are non-existent, and most importantly the terrible edge enhancement and DNR is gone from this new transfer!

  1. Great post! Just checking the Original version screen captures with the new ones. It truly is day and night

  2. *night and day – typo

  3. Why does the new release seem to have a tint of yellow to it, where the old one doesn’t – as in whites look like white? And not a yellow, mustard colour?

    Is this accurate?

  4. The colors from the original Blu-ray release were not accurate, they were pushed. They also vary in color due to specific scenes and lighting. The movie is naturally darker, while the original Blu-ray release had a high contrast to make it ‘leap’ off the screen.
